English Bulldogs - Determining a Responsible Breeder

Responsible breeders of English Bulldogs are always able to answer buyer's questions on the breed, puppy care, the breed's health issues and upkeep of individual dogs. They allow dams to recover from one breeding before being involved into another. If owners turn out to be incapable of caring for the English Bulldog, a responsible owner will be willing to take the dog back.

English Bulldog puppies are evaluated as show and breeding quality and pet quality. Pet quality puppies may not meet the breed standard for size, coat type, color, bone structure or temperament. Pet quality puppies are sold at a somewhat lower price than show quality pups.

Striving for the betterment of the breed is the major concern of reputable English Bulldog breeders.

English Bulldogs - Locating a Responsible Breeder

Your local kennel club and obedience-training clubs can be the best sources of information about the English Bulldog breeders. Among other reliable sources veterinarians, breeding kennel operators, groomers and pet supply outlets can be named.

Very few reputable breeders have to advertise their litters in newspapers. They have no trouble placing their dogs well in advance. Sometimes, they have long waiting lists of prospective owners. Ask to see both parents of the litter. If there are titled dogs in the pedigree, the puppies are sure to be excellent examples of the English Bulldog breed. It is advisable that you buy from a breeder who specializes only inbreeding English Bulldogs.
